Week 4 part 2
Hello everybody,
Week 4 is coming to an end and we have a bit more than a week left in Saumur, time does go by quickly !
Today we had our second community engagement. It was at a senior's residence called "Le Bocage" a few seconds away from l'Institution Saint Louis where the students takes classes.
At the senior's residence, a group of students sang and another group acted in front of the elderly. We ended the "show" with our students singing both the French and the American anthems. We then had a little "getting-to-know-each-other" time all together with some non-alcoholic beverages and a cake. I think both the students and the elderly really appreciated this moment of share and care.
And now the pictures/videos :
First song "La seine" by Vanessa Paradis & M :
Theatre act part I :
Second song "Toi + Moi" by Grégoire :

Week 4 Part 1
Hello Everyone !
Week 4 is on and we have a lot going on !
On Monday, the students had their first community engagement. We met with two classes of first graders and one of them was a class with special needs students. The students made 2-3 minutes presentations about some popular American monuments as the french students studied art, and architecture in particular. Our students and the french students then colored some templates of famous American monuments such as the empire State Building, the Statue of liberty, the Golden Gate, the Sears tower, etc. We ended the community engagement with all our students dancing traditional French kids songs with the little ones.
We ended the day with the weekly baking contest, and just like the first time, the cakes were delicious !
On Tuesday after class, we went bowling !! I think everybody had fun and the students could all appreciate their instructors' talents [insert joke here].
Today, we celebrated the Fourth of July, played "la boule de fort" a very local sport and we had a picnic outdoors with the host families, and the Mayor of Saumur too !
And now the pictures :
