Week 6 : Paris

Hi everyone and welcome to one of the last posts of this blog.
Sorry for the long delay between this post and the last one, but Paris was CRAZY !!
We left Saumur on Monday morning, 730am. The students had to say goodbye to the families who, not only hosted them, but also welcomed them. Some tears even showed up to partake in this moment. The same morning we stopped in Chartres, France to picnic and visit its very famous cathedral.

We then headed to our hotel in Paris. We got there at 3pm, dropped our luggage in our respective rooms and headed out, en route to Montmartre. The view was amazing and the Sacré-Coeur was really impressive. Eventually, we ended the day with a "fluvial visit" of Paris as we boarded on a "Bateau Mouche" and sailed on the Seine river.

On Tuesday, we woke up quite early to go to Versailles. We spent the whole morning there and then went eating lunch nearby. We then divided the group into three groups in order to offer more appropriate options for everyone. One group went to the Père Lachaise cemetery, another one went to the Palais Garnier and a third one, mine, went to Les Invalides. The three groups then met at Notre Dame de Paris and headed to a restaurant "Café Rive Droite" where we ate dinner. We ended dinner with karaoke night. The students were, only for this event, allowed to sing in English.

On Wednesday morning, we went to the Musée d'Orsay (which was originally a railway station). With the guided tour, we learned a lot about this place and the exhibited pieces of art.
We had lunch in le Champ de Mars right in front of the Eiffel Tower (such a view). In the afternoon we headed to the Louvre and spent most of the afternoon there (apparently there are so many things so look at that if one spends just a few minutes on every single work of art, with no interruption, it'd take them several weeks to see everything, so it gives you an idea of how much there is to see)
In the evening, we headed to the Tour Montparnasse ( the tallest skyscraper in France) to appreciate the full view of Paris one last time before going back to the hotel and head to the airport the following day.

Gabriella and Gabriela left us on Wednesday night, so we had to have a group hug !
Last selfie of the program, I left the group at the airport to go back to Nantes.

Here are the last pictures of the program, it was such a great adventure. The students grew so much in six weeks and I am very proud of them. I, myself, learned a lot too. Despite the fact that I was an instructor, they also taught me a lot.

It's never a goodbye, always a see you later. Love you guys !

P.S : Because the program is over, you can now leave comments on each post of this blog.
